The holiday season is upon us and sometimes we lose a little momentum as we look forward to a little break over the holidays. But you can also make one final push with your marketing in the last month of the year. No matter your business, your customers can always use a little reminder to stop in to your store to purchase those last minute holiday gifts or to reach out to set up your services.
Here are a few festive holiday marketing ideas, you can implement that are quick and simple:
Exclusive Shopping Night
Show a little love for your best customers. Host a special event outside of your regular hours to share holiday specials, one night only pricing, unveiling of new products and appreciation for your customers. You can include little snacks from neighbouring small businesses.
12 Days of Christmas
Give your clients a reason to reach out of you over the holidays. Pick out 12 of your most popular products or services and 12 awesome prices. Each day you can promote one product with it’s special pricing. Special pricing should only be offered for one day. Keep in mind that 10% isn’t as attractive as it once was – but consult your mark up and bottom line. Spread the message and specials throughout your store, social media, e-blast and your other marketing strategies.
Help the Community
Spread the holiday cheer by lending a hand in the community. This could be something as simple as picking an angel off the tree for a child in your community or a shoe box of supplies to send over to seas. Pick a local charity or fundraiser to support – financially or with man power. You and your team can also help at help at soup kitchens. This gives back to your community but also gives you a little added exposure for your participation.
Host a Fundraiser
Show your clients you care! Set up a fundraiser to give back to the community and encourage your staff… even your customers to participate too. This could be collecting can foods or non-perishable food items and toys. If you involve your customers, offer a discount for or special recognition for their contribution. Document it too – from your staff or customers dropping off items to you donating your items to the community organization!
Pick a Winner
Everyone likes to win – especially around the holidays. Contests are a great way to get your customers excited and engaged – plus do a little marketing for you. Decide on a product or a service you’d like to giveaway. It could also be a gift card that would allow a potential customer to pick out what they would like OR you could also get a gift card for another local business. What your customer has to do to earn an entry into the contest is up to you. It could be a photo of their holiday tree, favourite part of the holidays, their ugliest holiday sweater are just a few ideas.
It might be a little old-school but everybody likes to get something in the mail – especially when it’s not a bill. It might be small but show your customers you appreciate them by saying thank you with a holiday card. It can be as simple holiday card or a holiday card with your branding that tells them that you appreciate their support this year. If you want to take it one step further, you could provide something exclusive to them with their card – a free gift or a discount! Don’t have the marketing budget to do printed and mailed holiday cards, consider sending a personalized holiday emails to say thank you.
