We are a little more than half way through 2018 and we are seeing some very cool new graphic design trends that are being implemented in some of the big brands.
As we’ve been designing branded material this year, we’ve had a lot more requests for something out of the box, and over the top! There has been so much research done by our clients and even new businesses, as they develop their brands for years to come. These 7 graphic design trends are just a few we’ve seen so far into 2018. Wonder what other’s will be added to the list by the end of the year.
Multiple brand colour schemes
When setting the ton for a brand, many designers went by the rule of just ‘choose a few’ colours to represent your business. Now in 2018, many companies have grown or re-branded with a ton of vibrant colour palettes to help than stand out verses the 1, 2 or maybe 3 that maybe they started out. Take Dropbox for example:

Colour gradients are coming back
Remember early 2000’s Microsoft Word text gradients? Yes, they are coming back. They may not be as wild they were back then but it’s not uncommon to know see them in websites to headers, to presentations.
Branded social media images
There is nothing more unique than when you can take and use your own images on social media than using stock images. Viewers want to see something original and engaging than that an image you spent a few seconds looking through a stock image site. But yes, there is a place for stock images too.
Be bold! The use of colours is the driver behind many of the trends we are seeing this year. You don’t always have to play it safe. You can use some more risky colour in your design that may just catch the eye of your customer.
Domination of handwritten and bold fonts
Be unique with your fonts. You no longer have to use flat and minimalist fonts in your branding or designs. Consider using bold or even handwritten fonts to bring a sense of uniqueness.
Add a little personality to your graphics and will allow your brand to set itself a part from others. Creating custom illustrations, whether it’s yourself, a character etc. that provides some unique and eye-catching addition to your brand. This can also be custom icons!
A GIF has been one of those posts that seems to catch people attention usually because of the humour factor. But as corny as they are, so far in 2018 the move has been more toward custom branded GIF’s.
